Excel Tutorial – Evaluate

The EVALUATE function in Microsoft Excel is a formula evaluation function that allows you to execute a formula or expression as a string.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use the EVALUATE function:

  1. Open your Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and select the cell where you want to display the result of the formula or expression.
  2. Type the following formula into the selected cell: =EVALUATE(formula)

For example, if you want to execute the formula “=SUM(A1:A5)”, the formula would be: =EVALUATE(“=SUM(A1:A5)”)

  1. Press Enter to complete the formula and display the result of the executed formula or expression.

Note: The EVALUATE function is a powerful tool, but it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. Make sure you trust the source of the formula or expression before using the EVALUATE function, as it can execute any formula or expression, including malicious ones.
