Excel Tutorial – EXACT

The EXACT function in Microsoft Excel is a function that compares two text strings and returns the value TRUE if the strings are exactly the same, and FALSE if they are not. This function is useful for comparing text data in Excel and determining if two strings are identical.

To use the EXACT function, follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel and select the cell where you want the result to appear.
  2. Type the following formula into the cell: =EXACT(text1, text2)
  3. Replace “text1” and “text2” with the cell references or ranges of cells that contain the text strings that you want to compare.
  4. Press Enter to see the result.

The EXACT function compares the two text strings and returns the value TRUE if they are exactly the same, including capitalization, spaces, and other formatting. If the strings are not exactly the same, the function returns the value FALSE.

You can use the EXACT function to compare text data in Excel and determine if two strings are identical. It is a very useful tool for working with characters and strings in Excel.
