Excel Tutorial – RANK

The RANK function in Microsoft Excel is a function that returns the rank of a value within a range of cells or values. This function is useful for finding the position of a value within a range of cells, or for comparing multiple values to see where they rank in relation to one another.

To use the RANK function, follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel and select the cell where you want the rank of the value to appear.
  2. Type the following formula into the cell: =RANK(number, range, [order])
  3. Replace “number” with the value that you want to find the rank of.
  4. Replace “range” with the range of cells or values that you want to find the rank in.
  5. Optional: Replace “order” with the order that you want to rank the values in. By default, the RANK function will rank the values in ascending order (from smallest to largest). If you want to rank the values in descending order (from largest to smallest), you can specify “0” as the order.
  6. Press Enter to see the result.

The RANK function is a very useful tool for finding the position of a value within a range of cells or values. You can use it to analyze data, compare values, and make informed decisions based on the rank of a value in a range.
